For a patient with tooth decay, Drs. Mick, Brad, Nicole, and Monique Dana may provide a filling using a laser. Using a laser during this procedure makes the treatment as pain-free as possible. Many patients do not need anesthetic when a laser is used to place a filling.

Our dentists will use the laser to remove decay from the tooth and prepare the surrounding enamel to receive the filling. A dental laser does not have the noise and vibration of a drill, so many patients feel more at ease during treatment. Our dentists will probe the area to ensure that all of the decay has been removed. The area is then cleaned of bacteria and debris. The filling is then placed, finished and polished. If a tooth-colored filling is used, the material is placed in layers. A special light is used to cure the each layer. Then the material is shaped and any excess is trimmed off. The final restoration is polished. As the name suggests, tooth-colored fillings are made to match the shade of your natural teeth.
